Oracle DBA Location: North Atlanta
Skill Requirements: • Experience with building, installing, upgrading and patching Oracle RAC (Clusterware, ASM & DB) in a Linux environment. • 5+ years of solid Oracle DBA experience in 24x7 Linux environment required. • Experience with performance monitoring, optimization and database administration in an Oracle RAC environment. • Strong experience required with Oracle Replication (Streams). • Experience with Backup and Recovery using RMAN. • Minimum 10g experience, 11g beneficial. • Experience with Grid Control 10.2.0.5 and Oracle Secure Backup 10.3 a plus. • Knowledge of ERP systems and interface with other process-related systems. • Computer skills and use of office applications software. • Knowledge of SOX legislation and its impact on data and process tracking, documentation and reporting. General knowledge of auditing procedures and practices. • Project Management and troubleshooting skills • Excellent communication skills – need to be able to ask probing questions in order to get required information and lead meetings and discussions, provide insight and help define ideas and information. • Ability to collect and analyze information from multiple sources, see connections, issues and find common ground. • Ability to connect cause and effect in ambiguous situations • Ability to work collaboratively with others and be sensitive to cultural differences as well as be influential without formal authority. • BA in IT or other related field
Responsibilities:
• Administer and support Oracle RAC Database (11G) in a Linux environment; • Install new versions of software, service packs, patches and other software related to the database; • Commission and install new databases; • Manage environment via Grid Control and Enterprise Manager; • Server configuration • Configure hardware and software to work optimally with the Oracle software. Adjust hardware requirements when needed; • Centralized error handling and notification using standard monitoring tools which include Grid Control and/or SNMPc; • Capacity planning • Implement disk expansion when needed, following a database growth schedule defined in conjunction with application owners; • Define automated alert to monitor unexpected disk consumption; • Recoverability • Creating and testing (RMAN) Backup and Recovery procedures following application Manager and operate Disaster Recovery and Replication solutions (Streams). • Help verifying data integrity by checking internal database structures and proactively run tools to fix any discovered anomalies; • Define performance metrics and proactively monitor servers for optimum performance and capacity constraints; • Interact regularly with application and operational staff to ensure database integrity and performance. Work close to IT project managers to help define database strategies; • Establish administration standards and best practices for the Oracle Database not covered by Database GIG sub-team documentation; • Participate in a cross-IT team define and maintain Oracle Database lifecycle;
